Target Audience Research 1

My film opener is for a movie that would be considered a "chick flick."  The target audience for this movie would be teenagers and young adults who can connect with the younger actors.  The target audience for my movie, Love Lives On, would be very similar to that of the movie, If I Stay.  Both of these storylines rely heavily on flashbacks and romance.  A younger audience was the majority of viewers to the film If I Stay when it was in theaters.  But, I don't think young adults and teens will be the only people to enjoy this film.  I believe that older adult couples would watch this movie because it is about true love between two individuals and it would make the older generations remember when they were young.  When love is true love, it doesn't change with age, so I think that my movie would be of interest to people of all different age groups.  While this movie relates to most age groups, the primary target audience will be the teenage and young adult population.

Project Selection- My Choice

I have chosen to complete the film project for my Component 1 submission.  I am really excited for the opportunity to write a script and bring it to life on screen.  I am an actress myself so I have experience in this field and I have specific visions for the actors in my film.  I also have made short films in the past so I have experience in filming.  I am not sure what my film will be about but it will be something dramatic and mentally stimulating.  I will be working with Marley Churchward on this project.  We will divide the work evenly and incorporate each of our views into the film.  Marley and I will write the script together and take turns filming.  We will edit the clips together to complete the project.  This project will require a lot of collaboration and compromises if we have different views.  Overall, I am very excited to begin working and I believe Marley and I will make a great team.

Film Project Research 2: If I Stay

The second film opening I watched in research for my was If I Stay. Short Summary of Opening:  The opening of this movie begins with an arial shot of snowy mountains while Mia speaks in a voice over.  She is talking about herself and her family, including her mother, father, and little brother.  The voice over ends and dialogue between the four family members begins. They hear on the news that an approaching snow storm has cancelled school, so the family is in their kitchen talking. Mia talks about her cello practices and a boy named Adam, which we learn is her long-distance boyfriend.  The opening ends when Mia's parents convince her to go with them out to the farm to spend the day together. Analysis of Opening:  The film opens with an arial shot of snowy mountains.  There is a lot of camera movement in the very beginning, going across different scenery.
