Creative Critical Reflection 1

How does your project use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

In my project,  I used techniques that other projects in my genre used as well.  I utilized voice-overs which is something a lot of romance films begin with.  I also used a series of short takes with fast cuts to show a rewind in the story line.  This is a technique that I also saw used in films I viewed in my original research process.  I also used a range of camera shots and angles to show different perspectives.  One example would be at the end the camera is at a high angle looking down at a book and then it pans up when my male actor enters the scene. This shows the perspective of my female actress when she first meets the male actor.
My short film targets the social group of teenage girls.  It also shows the struggles of a relationship which many young adults can relate to.  It also represents the issues involved in a relationship.  The film will outline the path of two teens who fall in love, but a tragic accident ruins their plans.  The film also shows the importance of being happy with what you have and to take nothing for granted.  The lesson that the entire film works to portray is that it is good to hold on to the past and remember the good times, but it is also important to move on and find other things to make you happy.
